Beyond the amazing, sheer athleticism of some of our world’s top competitors in this year’s Olympic Games has been the awe-inspiring credit that so many Christian athletes have ceded to God when the spotlight has been on them.
Whether it’s America’s Tamyrah Mensah-Stock, who won an Olympic gold medal in wrestling,
America’s Sydney McLaughlin, who won an Olympic gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles by beating her own world record,
Fiji’s rugby team which knelt in prayer to thank God after winning the gold,
South Africa’s Tatjana Schoenmaker, who not only set a new Olympic record in the 200 breaststroke but did it wearing a Soli Deo Gloria (Glory to God Alone) swim cap, there is nothing better than fellow believers proclaiming her faith on the World Stage.
It begs the simple question: Where is the stage of your life where God has you – the place from which you can proclaim Him?
Maybe you’re a teacher getting ready to head back into one of our thousands of classrooms across the state.
Maybe you’re a doctor or nurse heading into the hospital for another long shift.
Maybe you’re a Bible study leader preparing for small group with the weight of a family issue tugging at your last thread of hope.
Whatever the stage, God has a clear message for you. As Jeremiah wrote, “The LORD gave me this message: ‘I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.’” (Jeremiah 1:4-5 NLT)
