Dr. Oran P. Smith
Dr. Smith is a graduate of Clemson University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and the University of South Carolina, where he received a Masters (MPA) and Doctorate (Ph.D). His doctoral dissertation, later published by New York University (NYU) Press, was entitled The Rise of Baptist Republicanism. He has written numerous journal articles and book chapters on politics, government, and the role of Christians in politics.
His areas of expertise are research, communications, politics and public affairs. He is a former member of Gov. Carroll Campbell’s economic development staff and the staff of the Business & Industry Political Education Committee (BIPEC). He has served as chair of the SC State Prayer Breakfast and is a Henry J. Salvatori Fellow of The Heritage Foundation.
A native of Greer, Dr. Smith lives in Leesville. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church (ARP), Columbia where he has served as deacon and Sunday School teacher. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC where he chairs the Academic & Student Affairs Committee.
Director of Operations
Kevin is a US Navy veteran and graduate of Columbia International University where he received his B.S. in Bible and M.A. in Intercultural Studies.
He joined the staff of Palmetto Family in 1994 as the first full-time employee, and other than a 4 year break to work in a teen abstinence ministry, has worked for Palmetto Family ever since. His areas of responsibility include communications (website, publications, mailings, etc.), administration (accounting, data management, systems management) and technology.
Kevin resides in Lexington with his wife of 27 years and three sons and is a member of St. Andrews Evangelical Church where he has served in International Student Ministry, Youth Ministry, Singles Ministry, and as home group leader.
Director of Coalitions
A native of Tipperary, Ireland, Erik Corcoran immigrated with his family to California when he was 8 years old. In the summer of 2016, he completed an 18-year journey through the immigration system and was “adopted” by the United States as a citizen. He calls it “the proudest moment of his life.”
Erik has served on staffs of three national campaigns and has worked on Capitol Hill in Washington. Most recently, he served as the Faith Director for a prominent presidential campaign in 5 states.
Erik is a passionate believer in the importance of faith integration in the political realm. Like Nehemiah, he believes we must pray and act out our faith in every area of society. Erik believes that God has brought us together for such a time as this in South Carolina.
Director of Communications
Briley is a recent graduate from Bob Jones University, where he majored in Communications. His interest in government and public policy began in high school when he volunteered for political campaigns during the summers.
While in college he participated in the South Carolina Student Legislature as a representative, was president of his literary society, and lead outreaches to a local nursing home and detention center. His interest in policy also led him to intern in U.S. Senator Tim Scott’s office. Briley was awarded the American Legion School Award at graduation for the qualities “necessary to preserve and protect the fundamental institutions of our government.”
Briley is recently married to his wife, Rebecca Ferrari-Hughes.
