Columbia, S.C. – On Tuesday, February 14, over 150 pastors from every corner of the Palmetto State will gather at the South Carolina Statehouse for the first-ever Nehemiah Network “Pastor’s Day at the Statehouse.” Members of the Network will begin the day at the Baptist Collegiate Ministry Building (819 Main St, Columbia, SC 29201) with a private program featuring presentations from members of the South Carolina legislature and Governor Henry McMaster. Media will be admitted to the program at 11:20am in preparation for the Governor’s remarks which begin at 11:30am.
Immediately following, the pastors will convene in the Statehouse rotunda to be led in prayer by Lt. Governor Kevin Bryant at 12:30pm. From there, the pastors will proceed to the lobby. The goal of the event is to connect every member of the South Carolina Legislature with a faith leader from the district they represent and to offer spiritual support.
The Nehemiah Network is a new branch of the Palmetto Family Council composed exclusively of faith leaders in South Carolina. The Nehemiah Network is the first faith-based network to match at least one pastor to each South Carolina legislator (170).
Dr. Oran P. Smith, president of the Palmetto Family Council, said of the event that “Palmetto Family is excited to connect pastors from all over South Carolina to their legislators. Members of the South Carolina legislature will certainly be encouraged. We are looking forward to the relationships that will be forged because of Pastor’s Day at the Statehouse.”
